ANITA NOWAK PhD: NEW VISITING FELLOW AT THE SAUVÉ FOUNDATION

-

On behalf of the Sauvé Board, we are pleased to announce that, effective March 1st 2012, Anita Nowak will be a Visiting Fellow at the Sauvé Foundation.

In addition to her responsibilities as the founding Integrating Director for the new Social Economy Initiative at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management, Dr. Nowak will spend two days per week at Sauvé House working on her book, "The Power of Empathy". The book builds upon her doctoral research and dissertation entitled, “Introducing a Pedagogy of Empathic Action as Informed by Social Entrepreneurs”.

Over the coming months, Dr. Nowak will share her expertise and networks in social entrepreneurship and education with Sauvé Scholars during weekly office hours for the remainder of the 2011-12 Program year. In addition, she will lend her considerable experience to the Foundation, particularly in the areas of development, outreach and planning.

Dr. Nowak's appointment builds on that of Professor Philip Oxhorn (Sauvé Visiting Fellow, 2009) who previously served as the Founding Director of McGill University’s Institute for the Study of International Development and Associate Dean (Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies).

We warmly welcome Dr. Nowak to the Sauvé Community which, we are confident, will benefit greatly from her energy and expertise.

“Leaders must dream of changing the world.

They must have an inspired vision of the changes they want to make and be prepared to consecrate all
their energy to that purpose. A capacity to communicate their objectives is indispensable to sustain
the enthusiasm of their collaborators and their perseverance in action.”
— The Right Honourable Jeanne Sauvé, Opening Speech to the National Conference for Young Leaders, June 2-8, 1991
