ABOUT GEOFF GREEN
Canadian adventurer and educator Geoff Green has led over 200 worldwide expeditions to some of the most remote corners of the globe, including over 100 expeditions to Antarctica and the Arctic. He is a veteran of 76 Antarctic expeditions and 32 Arctic expeditions. Many notable organizations such as the Discovery Channel, World Wildlife Fund, National Audubon Society and the Smithsonian Institution enlist Geoff to lead their groups into the world’s most remote and exciting regions.

Geoff is the founder and director of the Canadian-based organization Students on Ice Expeditions, an award-winning educational program that has taken over 900 students, teachers and scientists from around the world on expeditions to both the Arctic and the Antarctic. The goal of the pioneering project is to give the world’s youth a heightened understanding and respect for our planet’s global ecosystem, and the inspiration to protect it. In 2003, Students on Ice was awarded the prestigious Michael J. Smith Award for Science Promotion, an annual award presented by the Canadian Government for an outstanding contribution to the promotion of science, through activities encouraging popular interest in science or developing science abilities.

In 2005, Geoff received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the U.S. Congress for his work with youth and the environment. He was also voted one of Canada’s "Top 40 under 40" - an annual national prize event saluting Canada's top young leaders. In 2004, Outpost Magazine chose Geoff as one of the “Top 5 Canadian Explorers” to watch.  Most recently, Geoff was awarded the Citation of Merit for outstanding feats of exploration and service by the prestigious Explorers Club in New York City.

Geoff and his expeditions have been featured extensively in international media, as well as in numerous documentaries.  Geoff is a Fellow of The Explorers Club and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. He regularly advises on conservation, film and expedition related projects around the world. He is a Board Member for the Ottawa Riverkeeper, the Mingan Island Cetacean Study, The Arctic Circle Club, the Earth Day Canada National Scholarship Judging Panel, and the Canadian National Committee for the International Polar Year.

“Leaders must dream of changing the world.

They must have an inspired vision of the changes they want to make and be prepared to consecrate all
their energy to that purpose. A capacity to communicate their objectives is indispensable to sustain
the enthusiasm of their collaborators and their perseverance in action.”
— The Right Honourable Jeanne Sauvé, Opening Speech to the National Conference for Young Leaders, June 2-8, 1991
